With "roam like at home" you call, text and use mobile data in other EU countries at your domestic price – also in Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Moldova and Ukraine. Where roaming is not free, how fair-use limits work, the free emergency number 112 and a few words in local languages.

Roam like at home

When you travel in another EU country you pay the same price as at home for calls, texts and mobile data. The same applies in Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, and – since 1 January 2026 – in Moldova and Ukraine. The EU rules apply until 2032.

  • Fair use: roaming is meant for travel, not for living abroad. Your operator may set a data limit for roaming – with an unlimited plan it must still be generous (roughly at least twice your monthly fee divided by €1.30 per GB in 2026).
  • Calls to another EU country while you are abroad cost the same as a domestic call.
  • Not covered: Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Türkiye, the Western Balkans and other non-EU countries – check your operator's prices or buy a local or eSIM package before you go.
  • Ships and planes: mobile connections via satellite at sea or in the air are not regulated and can be very expensive – switch to flight mode.
  • If your operator charges you wrongly, complain to them first, then to the national telecoms regulator.

112 – one emergency number

  • German – danke · Greek – efcharistó · Hungarian – köszönöm · Italian – grazie · Polish – dziękuję · Portuguese – obrigado / obrigada
